I have been inactive from the blog for several months, but I cannot say that’s the case with my projects. It was a year with very interesting projects, and with the start of this New Year I think it is time to recap what happened lately and to talk a little about what is coming.
If you checked out the webpage lately you’ll realize that I have updated many sections, fixing a little the aesthetic format and updating the information regarding my new projects and removing some others.
The last time I did one of these to give news about what was coming in the future was when I talked about the projects I would be doing in 2017, and now, I can happily say that all these projectshave been moving forward.
Back then, the working title was Novus, but now the official title of the short film is Ojos Azul Pálido (Pale Blue Eyes). The project was directed and written by my colleague Bruno Brichetti from an idea established by me and Kevin Bohdanowicz. The project was filmed in the summer of 2017 and is currently in the final stages of post-production.
We hope to be launching a few things related to the project soon, but I do not want to get ahead of myself before having things better defined. For now I can announce that the project is close to being finished and we plan to explore through which platforms we can move it later.
For more information you can access the short film’s page that I have updated with the information currently available on the project.
Preface and Nym, The Namer
Preface was the second short film of 2017, this time directed and written by me. The short film finished shootings in April of 2017 and I had a first cut by the end of November. I'm currently working on post-production, which we estimate will be ready a bit later than 'Pale Blue Eyes'.
As with 'Pale Blue Eyes', we are exploring the trajectory that Preface will have once it is finished, and I will make progress on that when there is actually some concrete news to give.
You can also find more information about the short on the updated page.
Going into the project itself, Preface was a very personal project, which I am very happy to have been able to carry out, and quite happy with the result. One of the reasons why I am excited about this project is because it is the first story that will be part of a series that I have thought of from here to the future. In Preface you will finally meet a character to whom I have grown quite fond of in recent years since I started working on him: Nym, The Namer.
The project that I plan to move forward starting with Preface is an anthology series (between short stories and short films) that will revolve around the lives of different people and their encounters with this enigmatic character. My purpose will be to be able to tell independent, contained and quite human stories, their only common element being that these people meet Nym in one way or another.
I think with that I already said enough about some of my plans for the future, and I won’t reveal more than necessary, so for now, I can leave you with those updates until there is more news about how this project will move forward.
Thief of Lights
If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve probably have seen the name on some of the things I've been doing lately. Currently, La Ladrona de Luces (Thief of Lights) is my next short film after Preface. It will be the second short film in the anthology that I just announced.
The short film was filmed in the month of December in Panama and it is my return to produce in my native land. I have to admit that I am quite happy to have worked with Panamanian colleagues to be able to carry this story forward.
Thief of Lights is a story located on Christmas Eve. It tells the story of a girl named Daniela who escapes from home and meets a peculiar character who calls himself Mapache, who is in search of a gift for his best friend.
Days of the Wolf
This project arose from an idea that I put together with Kevin Bohdanowicz in 2016. It is a project designed to be filmed in Panama this summer and I am working with the same production team behind La Ladrona to be able to explore the feasibility of doing it. coming soon.
The short film enters deeply into the fantasy genre, exploring the journey of a man without memories and his encounter with a strange shadow that will make him question what he believed until that moment.
Días del Lobo (Days of the Wolf) would culminate with the first trilogy of shorts that I have planned so far in the anthology.
If you saw the Books section, you will notice that I removed the second installment 'Palace of the Sages'. The reason for this is because I have currently decided not to give so much focus to this second book when I am still working on many things in the first installment. You have to walk before you run. That's why I decided to start the year rethinking some things about the first book and sit down again with the keyboard, until I am satisfied with the book that I hope to present someday. I will not give dates or illusions, and for now, I'll just say that the book is in an indefinite hiatus.
The White Stag
Another project that I removed from my page was my story ‘The White Stage' (In both versions in Spanish and English) and the reason for this is because it will be part of a small literary project for which I am preparing this year. Therefore, I decided to remove it until further notice and wait until I can tell you better about what is coming in the future.
With that, I've rounded up the general updates regarding the projects I've been working on. For now, it will be a matter of time. Once there are more updates and news to share, I will let you know.
Until next time,
