On Monday, CRONO had its premiere at the Universidad del Cine, here in Buenos Aires. Now, the short film will be traveling to my homeland.
Some may remember that in a previous post I announced that CRONO would be having its official premiere on Monday, October 3, at the Universidad del Cine. I'm glad to say that the premiere took place and everything turned out very good! The premiere was attended by the team and cast, along with a group of guests who could finally see the short film for the first time on the big screen. At the end of the night, between nerves and applause, the short film was well received.
Now, if we go back to the entry where I announced the official release, you'll also remember that I said that CRONO would be published online the next night, but as you may have noticed, that didn't happen. And that is because many things have changed since that announcement that led us to the decision to postpone the online release. In short, the reason for the postponement is the following: CRONO was chosen for the selection of New Directors at the HAYAH International Short Film Festival of Panama.
I wish I could have sat and announce this before, but I didn't have the opportunity. Better late than never!
The selection for which CRONO was selected is a focused on new Panamanian directors who are starting their film career. The Festival will be taking place in Panama City during November. When we get closer to the date, I'll announce an online launch date posterior to the festival.
Perhaps you are wondering why we are postponing the release. One of the initial reasons is that I want to keep a bit of mystery around the film for my people in Panama, so they can enjoy it for the first time on the big screen. On the other hand, there is a more important reason, which is a bit more personal.
It is not easy to explain the joy I felt when I found out I had been selected; I really wasn't expecting it. This was a completely unknown feeling to me. Not only because it is the first time I had been selected to HAYAH, but because it is the first time that any of my works had been selected for an event like this. After some thought, I realized that in a somewhat curious way it just feels appropriate that the first time I am chosen in a festival is in HAYAH, since this festival has a special meaning for me.
During my high school years, the HAYAH was one of my first approaches to the world of films. For a few years I was part of the festival as a volunteer, and there I began to discover ways of making films from all over the world, which I hadn't discovered until then. And besides, it was at that festival that I met the person that made me discover the University to which I am attending now. On a personal level, HAYAH was one of the factors that led me to enter this industry, and when I see it that way, I think it just appropriate that CRONO can have its premiere in my beloved country in this important festival.
And well, with that you already get an idea of where CRONO is going next. Later, when I have the exact day for the screening I'll be sharing it so you can go.
The next time, if there is any news worthy of sharing, I might be sharing some progress on some of my upcoming projects.
Until next time ,
